Armour stone supply, ship & barge loading/discharging, rock handling operations
With the benefit of extensive in-house resources, we offer a reliable, competitive and professional service over a diverse range of Armour stone supplies.
Feature Project: West Bay Dorset
East and West Beach Coast Defence Improvements, West Bay, Dorset
Client: Bam Nuttall / Environment Agency
We loaded 40,000ton gantry equipped ship with 36,000 tonnes of armour stone in four gradings from 0.3 to 10t from Glensanda Quarry, Scotland. Transit loaded vessel to West Bay, Bridport, Dorset.
Tranship rock to barge, Searock 1 supported by a shoalbuster tug.
SD ship deployed to the agreed offshore anchorage position 1.4 nautical miles (circa 2.9km) outside the Marine Conservation Area.
Transfer main armour cargo from the ship to barge at the offshore anchorage to the beaches in shipments of 1200 to 1800 tonnes per cargo to suit the available tidal depth.
Transit the armour stone shipments into the East and West Beach discharge locations using dedicated routes to the beach, thus avoiding fishing interests and avoiding damage to the known inshore reef Special Areas of Conservation.
Continue until order supply was completed transhipping the armour from the ship to the different beach locations at every suitable High Water window of opportunity, separating the four different project gradings to the agreed client schedule in order for the two beach locations to be worked consecutively to allow best asset and plant utilisation.
